Distributor box for power applications

From |

In field-based power distribution, at power supply voltages of 24 V a larger cable cross-section size is required in order to counteract voltage drop across long distances. The M12 power distribution boxes from Phoenix Contact, in combination with standard cables of up to 4×6 mm², are designed for this application.

The distributor has four T-coded M12 slots with a current load of up to 10 A per channel. Each of the eight channels is equipped with a plug-in fuse. Devices are connected directly via T-coded M12 standard cables. The distributor is supplied via standard cables and a plug-in sleeve housing with contact inserts and separate crimp contacts.

The status of the input and output sides can be checked at any time via LEDs. Further evaluation data is provided via an M12 diagnostics port that is connected to the controller in the control cabinet. T-coded items such as molded system lines, attachable plug-in connectors, Y-distributors, and energy distributors provide reliable power distribution in the field.

Modular marshalling patchboard concept with innovative color coding system

The individual marshalling patchboard elements snap into place easily and securely and can also be coded using eleven different colors. This ensures clearly arranged and fault-free wiring. The precise number of positions and the blocked form design, ideal for various applications, create a stable patchboard construction that is resistant to warping. The 2.3 mm test connections are easily accessible, next to the connection points, enabling convenient testing with standard testing accessories. The pre-assembled marshalling patchboards are available with four or six push-in connections per element in 32, 48 and 80-pos. designs. In terms of mounting type, there is a choice of direct, 19″ rack and DIN rail mounting.

The PTRV marshalling terminal system is the most compact on the market with a length of just 100 mm. It offers additions options for easy and clearly arranged marshalling wiring. Its key features include freely selectable colors, easily accessible test connections, and large-surface matrix marking.

The marshalling terminals and marshalling patchboards are designed for use in Ex i safety circuits up to 60 V and are available as blue versions.

The marshalling patchboards, which can be self-assembled, are configured and ordered with just a click of the mouse in the product area on the phoenixcontact.net/products website.

Flexible and safe wiring of measuring transducers

Switching symbols on the terminal blocks also provide easy and secure operation support. The test disconnect terminal blocks feature up to six universal function shafts for potential distribution or test purposes, thereby enabling maximum functionality. The 2 to 16-pos. jumpers for free assembly make it possible to implement all the tasks of potential distribution within a very short time. The use of same-shape panel feed-through terminal blocks enables a setup suitable for the application in hand to be established.

Wiring efforts can be considerably reduced both in the pre-meter area and in switchgear, cable, machine and device protection, thanks to the wide range of functions and combination options within this terminal block family..

Stainless steel housing for the ex area

From |

The new Clipsafe stainless steel empty housing and terminal boxes from Phoenix Contact are suitable for use in extreme conditions. The 140 robust ATEX and IECEx-approved standard housings are available as door or cover versions in nine depths with sizes up to 1000 x 1000 x 300 mm and provide comprehensive protection for applications in industrial environments and in process technology.

Designed with practicality in mind, the door stop can be changed to suit the specific installation situation. The same applies to the mounting bracket. The special door and cover seal ensures a secure seal, even after opening multiple times. At the same time, the seal support forms a drainage channel which reliably prevents the ingress of moisture and dirt. A door opening angle of 135° ensures comfortable work in case of service and maintenance. Flange plates are possible on four sides of the housing with patented seal protection and captive mounting screws.

The Clipsafe empty housing is completely equipped with terminal blocks and cable glands according to customer requirements and customized with threads, bore holes, and rectangular cut-outs.

Heavy-duty connectors for every application

From |

Heavycon complete heavy-duty connectors from Phoenix Contact offer a reliable seal up to degree of protection IP69K. There are matching plug-in connections for every requirement with housings from three series types and matching contact inserts which can be combined.

The standard series offers a wide range of robust metal housings with various different cable outlet directions and locking mechanisms. The flexible, swiveling bayonet locking of the EVO series allows the cable outlet direction to be freely selected and reduces the number of versions and thereby the warehousing costs by up to 70%. Not only does the direct screw locking without panel mounting base result in cost savings, it also means that the Advance housings are particularly durable and robust.

All components can be individually combined and flexibly modified, extended or exchanged. The standard and EVO housing is pin-compatible with the market standard and the Heavycon metal housing is “EMC-ready” thanks to conductive surfaces and seals. Combined with shielded cable glands, they offer you reliable protection in electromagnetic surroundings. All housing series fit standard panel cutouts.

Connect motors quickly and easily

From |

For easy motor connection, space-saving four-level terminal blocks are now available from Phoenix Contact with push-in connection technology for nominal cross sections up to 4 mm², 32A, and 600 V UL. Easy potential distribution via a function shaft on every level reduces wiring costs. A large-surface marking option clearly identifies every motor connection. Each terminal point can be marked and is equipped with an easily accessible test opening.

Thanks to 50 percent less insertion force, it is possible to insert solid and stranded conductors with ferrules and cross sections from 0.25 to 6 mm² without tools. The built-in actuation lever allows fully insulated releasing with any tool. The orange-colored button indicates the actuating element and prevents the terminal from being activated accidentally. Connection of stranded conductors from 0.2 mm² without ferrules is possible.

The motor terminals were developed within the CLIPLINE complete terminal block range for use of cross-system accessories. In addition to the same bridge system, the entire accessory range for marking and testing is identical to the push-in, screw, spring-cage, and IDC fast connection technology.

Pluggable terminals for fast starts

From |

Phoenix Contact’s Combi product range now includes PT 2.5-HEXA multi-conductor terminals with up to six contact points. For example, these can be configured as three push-in contacts for internal wiring and three PIN contacts for pluggable external wiring. This flexible concept facilitates fast starting up of modular system sections, as well as fast replacement of system components during servicing.

The high count of contact points makes the terminals particularly suitable as compact, pluggable marshalling distributors. Large, identically contoured labeling surfaces with end mounting facilitate easy-to-read matrix labeling. The components are very safe, thanks to the touch-proof design of both the terminal and the plug connectors. A double pluggable bridge shaft additionally facilitates simple voltage distribution and marshaling.

Thanks to the universal Combi plug zone, a range of different types of plug connectors can be used. Individual coding increases the wiring safety and reliability as it helps to avoid erroneous plugging. An extensive range of optional snap-on accessories, such as connector catch mechanisms, strain relief elements, and shield connections ensure the wiring process is fully versatile.

FAME 2 – “Masuk (Enter), Tolak (Push), Pulas Atas (Twist Upwards), Pulas Bawah (Twist Downwards)”

From |

I remember when I was a kid and whenever my dad drops by a petrol station for petrol refueling everything was pretty much manual. Luckily in those days every petrol station in Malaysia you can find very helpful petrol attendants who will always ask “Penuh?” (“Full tank?”). Most of the time we as consumers never bothered to care about the refueling procedures as we know the petrol attendants will take care of the “complicated” procedures  for us.

All these “Relying on the Petrol Attendant for refueling” experience ended somewhere in 1999 where Petronas introduced the “self-service” concept for petrol refueling. It was a nightmare to a lot of Malaysians who think petrol refueling procedure is complicated but this change was necessary as Petronas was trying to have their petrol stations run more cost-effectively. To counter the fear of Malaysians towards self-service petrol refueling, Malaysians were being introduced to a revolutionary campaign of “Angkat (Lift), Tolak (Push), Masuk (Enter), Picit (Squeeze)”.
