Safety Intergrity Level in Relation to Performance Level

I would like to share my experience which I encountered during my recent safety training to a customer in Malaysia. The topic was on Safety in Machine which the core topic was on the New Standard EN ISO 13849-1 which will be the successor to EN 954-1 ( EN954-1 will be invalid from 28-Dec-2011 )

I realized that 80% of the time I was explaining on the newly introduce Performance Level (PL) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL). During the discussion, there was a question from an engineer.

“In this case, in future we will all use the highest Safety Integrity Level (SIL) say SIL3 or SIL4 and our system will be good and safe”

No, Facebook is NOT closing down on 15th March 2011.

Ah, the power of the Internet. With just a few shares, and retweets and an article posted on a tabloid style website called “WeeklyWorldNews.com” which is best known for its past scoops such as Aliens Spaceships to Attack Earth in 2011 and (GASP!) Megan Fox is a Man, and suddenly the entire Internet is abuzz with rumors of our favorite Social Networking website closing down on 15th March 2011.

Keep Cool!

Its January and this is probably the only month in Singapore that we do see much of the Sun. I am starting to miss the warmth from the sunlight.

I don’t think much of us would enjoy the scorching sun in the month of March and April either. However, as much as projects goes, installation of the Solar panels takes place all year round.
