About Xplore Automation Award 2012

On 19 January 2011, the time had come again: In the German Ministry for Economics and Technology in Berlin, Minister of State Cornelia Pieper kicked off the xplore New Automation Award from Phoenix Contact. This will be the fifth time that pupils and students from around the world will participate in the competition with original and creative ideas for automation solutions.

Interested pupils and students in teams can again submit their project ideas by May 2011. They can compete in the following categories – Education, Buildings, Environmental, Factory, Net, Recreation und Twins. A jury of eight made up of people from business, science, and various associations will select 100 projects from all of those that are submitted. Participants present themselves and their ideas in brief videos, which help the jury in its selection process by giving a good overview of the various concepts.

The selected teams then have until February 2012 to complete their projects and submit the results. Thirty ideas will be nominated and will be presented in Blomberg in March 2012. An award will also be presented at the Hanover Fair 2012.

The Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology as well as the Ministry for Foreign Affairs are the patrons of the competition, as this competition has grown to become an international event. Teams from a total of 21 countries participated in 2008.

In order to further promote international exchange, xplore New Automation Award 2012 will especially support international projects, where teams from schools collaborate with one another to develop a particular subject. All of the relevant information can now be found at the www.xplore.org Web site.
