The new flagship for transformer disconnect terminal blocks makes wiring and handling current and voltage transformers easier
Quick and easy direct-connection technology and automatic short-circuit switching enhance transformer secondary wiring and safety.
Connecting transformers for semi-indirect and indirect measurement has long posed challenges in metering and protection technology due to the need for low-resistance loads and reliable short-circuit functionality. Solutions include short-circuit plugs, plug-in short-circuit bridges, and captive short-circuit bridge bars.

All these solutions share a common principle. Short-circuiting the transformer and disconnecting the measuring circuit are two distinct steps that must follow a strict sequence; short-circuit first, then disconnect. For added safety, terminal blocks with a short-circuit bridge that mechanically locks the disconnect slide are essential. Phoenix Contact has offered such solutions for decades, including models like the URTK/S and URTK/SP.
Short-circuiting and disconnection in one movement
Phoenix Contact’s new XTVMEA 6 terminal block streamlines the switching sequence by combining short-circuiting and disconnection into a single, automatically ordered action. A forced switching mechanism ensures correct sequencing and prevents errors.

To ensure simultaneous short-circuiting at transformer connections “S1” and “S2,” adjacent terminal block disconnect levers must be coupled using the C-MEA accessory in two to four positions. Specifically, the coupling element snaps into place from above. Additionally, the first position can be decoupled with a latch for inserting a current measuring device.
Push-X direct-connection technology – simply insert the conductor and you’re done!

The XTVMEA 6 terminal block features Push-X technology, allowing stripped conductors to be inserted directly without pretreatment. Contact is secured instantly by a spring mechanism, confirmed by a “click” and a visible push button. This enables quick visual checks during final cabinet inspection without manually testing each conductor.
Large-surface marking of connections
Push-X technology also features lateral conductor entry, enabling large-surface marking above the contact chamber for clear identification during wiring and protection testing. Central switches include marking options, with the disconnect lever labeled “I” (on) and “0” (off). The XTVMEA 6 supports star point creation using Clipline accessories like test sockets and plug-in bridges.
Easy and risk-free implementation of technical FNN and “TAB” specifications in accordance with application rules
Thanks to its technical benefits, the XTVMEA 6 is ideal for TAB terminal strips used in semi-indirect and indirect measurement. Whether following FNN guidelines or local grid requirements like BDEW TAB 2023, it meets user needs. Furthermore, configurations must comply with VDE-AR-N 4100, 4110, and 4120. Additionally, Phoenix Contact provides preassembled strips, with a minimum setup of ten positions: three current paths (two each), three voltage terminals, and one neutral conductor terminal.
TAB = Technische Anschluss Bedingungen (technical connection conditions)
Preassembled measuring transducer sets and TAB terminal strips can be ordered with just a click
To meet current standards for semi-indirect and direct measurement or mains protection, current transformer terminal blocks are offered as complete sets with all required markings and accessories. They support metering applications per VDE FNN guidelines for panels up to 1,000 A, including accessories for transformer paths L1, L2, and L3 (item 1798307-00, TS-VDE 4100). In medium and high-voltage protection, they serve as terminal interfaces for protective devices, compliant with established connection and protection regulations.
Terminal strip configurator for 100% flexibility, plus real-time display of price and delivery time

For custom transformer disconnect terminal strip configurations, Phoenix Contact offers an online configurator that provides item numbers, designations, pricing, and delivery times in real-time. Customers can add completed configurations to their cart, place orders, and download all relevant data, including product datasheets.
