They are just connectors…

Karl FazakerleyFirstly and fore-mostly hello to you all! This is my first blog …ever! So please bear with me! I have been on board at Phoenix Contact as their new product manager for the Combicon product range (PCB terminal blocks and connectors) in the UK for couple months now, so I am also on a journey myself and I look forward to sharing this with you all.

In my future blogs, I would love to talk about all the products that Phoenix Contact manufacture. There will also be blogs on certain key products, but I would initially like to engage with you from an educational point of view.

Combicon connection technologyI would like to firstly go back to the basics when it comes to this particular field.  What exactly goes into PCB connectors, terminal blocks and the various processes involved that go into making a populated printed circuit board?

I do not want to teach you all how to tie your own shoelaces but for those just starting out in this industry, I hope I can give you some good underpinning knowledge and a great refresher for already established engineers out there who probably know this with their eyes closed, but still it is good to recap every now and then.

Also to those who are not engineers, you may be in other departments within your company but would like to understand what your company do with these components; I hope my blogs will be of great value to you all.

I plan to cover various subjects from poles to pitches, creepage and clearance right up to the various soldering processes and what may work best for various applications.

First blog is short but sweet but I look forward to sharing my knowledge with you all!

Stay tuned for further blogs from Karl!
