As the previous week has shown, the UK is no stranger to rain. So when we need to transfer data, signals and power outside of the building, Phoenix Contact’s outdoor cabling and connectors come into their own.
You may initially think that finding a solution that is waterproof will suffice. But there are other factors to consider in the outside environment. Factors which could seriously undermine your installation’s performance if not given the attention they deserve.
I suppose the obvious ones are:
- UV resistance
- Ingress Protection (IP ratings such as IP65 or IP69K for instance)
- Shock resistance
- Temperature shock capability
Our exhaustive list of tests for ALL of our outdoor cabling and connectors ranges include:
We undertake these tests so that you can rest assured that we’ve already got them covered.
I’d like to start by introducing you to our QPD installation range. QPD stands for Quickon Power Distribution, Quickon being our insulation displacement method of termination the wires. Time is drastically cut by not having to prepare or ferrule the individual cores and does away with the need for any specialised tooling. The installation system also achieves high ingress protection levels achieving IP66, IP68 and IP69K simultaneously.
This short video explains the system and concept.
The benefits of the QPD’s robustness, speed of installation and capacity to easily expand are clear. QPD will meet your needs with regard to:
- Long lifetime for the components
- Reliable & robust
- Shock & vibration proof
- Flame resistant
- High voltage & current
- Flexible system
- Highly resistant against chemicals
- Temperature range -40°C … +100°C
- UV & Ozone resistant
The QPD installation system is equally at home indoors as well. Typical applications include, lighting, HVAC, conveyor systems to name but a few.
In addition to our QPD installation system. We have an extensive outdoor M12 cable and connector portfolio.
There is too much to detail here, but if you go to the Phoenix Contact UK website and insert: Webcode #0021 into the Phoenix Contact UK website search window, you will be directed to this area:
Now Lockdown measures are being eased, its good to look outdoors again.
