Connectivity solutions for energy storage systems

From |

The world as we know it is changing, with our politicians meeting at COP26 to discuss climate change right now, and with it comes new challenges for future-proof connectivity solutions for the all electric society.

In this new world we find ourselves in, renewable energy is becoming a more commonly used source of power generation and, with it, the need to store energy has never been more relevant than it is today.  We currently create a lot of excess energy from wind turbines and solar farms for example, which is wasted if it’s not stored and it’s only in recent years that energy storage solutions have become available. The advent of these storage systems will not only help to ensure we have reliable renewable energy sources that can power our homes today, we will also have sustainable energy for future generations.

Electric vehicles (EVs) are now seen more often on our roads and with the sale of traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles set to cease within the next 10 years, they will become the main source of transportation for us all. In the modern sustainable home, you’ll find solar panels on the roof and a domestic battery storage device keeping the energy available to charge an EV fully from the sun. Any excess stored energy can be sold back to the energy companies, meaning these households have a zero-carbon footprint and are able to make money from the energy they are creating from natural resources. At some point soon it will become more unusual to see a traditional ICE vehicle on our roads compared to seeing an EV or hybrid one.

With the world changing dramatically, as visibly seen since the onslaught of Covid 19, we need to use renewable energy sources more as the place for fossil fuels in our future is not sustainable or needed. The world’s leaders at COP26 are already looking towards a zero-carbon emission future, with industry needing to modernise their factories to meet the demands of their governments.

As a trusted manufacturer of innovative products, Phoenix Contact is constantly developing new and future-proof connectivity solutions to meet the demands of the all electric society. We are already well known for our products for EVs, the EV charging infrastructure and we have now developed connectivity solutions for energy storage systems.

The initial product ranges for energy storage systems can be found on our website today and will be continually expanded as we release more products over this year and beyond. With over 20000 Phoenix Contact products available you are bound to find the part you need for your application helping you create solutions for the all electric society. We are working together and placing the power to connect in your hands.
