MID certified Energy Meters Empro

From |

MID energy meters are tested in accordance with the European Measuring Instruments Directive. MID certification makes it possible to bill the measured energy consumption via the cost centers. The measuring instruments measure the most important electrical parameters and communicate them via common interfaces to higher-level control systems. With the new product family, Phoenix Contact can address more markets than before. The products are an extension of the existing EMpro energy measurement device family.

So what was the reason for the development of these energy meters?

The EMpro energy measuring devices have been on the market since 2011. To date, the demand for energy measuring devices, in particular calibrated meters, has increased. The new MID-certified products meet these requirements and complement the existing product family. For the first time, the new family of meters offers variants that can measure current up to 80 A directly. These devices do not require external current transformers. Furthermore, there are three bus and network interfaces in the product family: Modbus/RTU, M-Bus and Modbus/TCP. Especially the integrated Modbus/TCP interface is relatively new and in demand on the market.

What are the benefits?

In this range we have versions with direct current measurement of up to 80 A without the need for external current transfomers, this saves cost and space. The Integrated bus and network interfaces further enhance easy integration into existing bus and network structures for reporting. The physical size of the device also aides space saving in the control cabinet. Measuring just 72mm. With these benefits, comes product ideally suited for many smart power applications, such as Building Automation, E- Mobility (Electric Motor Car Charge Stations) and Shared Power Distribution.
In this range we have addtional voltage and current monitoring devices for other Power requirements, including Solar System Monitoring devices for String Boxes, Phase Failure, Voltage Monitoring and Current monitoring, for both Single Phase and Three Phase.
