Duplicon is retiring…

All good things must come to an end, time moves on etc…..

Phoenix Contact have always been proactive in bringing innovative ways of distributing power in the field. Back in the day (to coin another cliché) our Duplicon range was our solution for distributing power for LV applications.

The time has come for Duplicon to be retired after years of solid service. It will be phased out mid 2020. The successors to this system are our Heavycon, QPD and IPD installation systems.

Building on the concepts of ease of installation, speed of installation, robustness and simplicity, our Heavycon, QPD and IPD ranges tick those particular boxes.

Our Heavycon heavy duty connector range features high IP ratings as well as high impact and vibration resistance. Available in both high grade aluminium and glass fibre re-inforced plastic, we also offer a full range of push in inserts for speed of termination and contact reliability.

Our push-in termination system is IPD (Installation Power Distribution) with IP67 degree of protection which can withstand some pretty adverse conditions. Typical applications are lighting and wiring for robots. Available in  3 and 5 positions for conductors up to 2.5 mm².

For larger conductors we look to the big brother of IPD which is QPD. 3,4 and 5 positions in 1.5mm, 2.5mm and 6mm cross sections for up to 20A.

The elements will not cause this system problems either with IP66, IP68 and IP69K protection and IK07 shock resistance. As for the expansion of your installation, this is made easy through the use of the extensive range of in line connectors, ‘T’ and ‘H’ distributors.

Whereas IPD uses push-in connection, QPD uses our quickon insulation displacement technology. This means that you can make off your connections in minimal time. The only tool you’ll need to make these terminations is a small pair of wire cutters to trim of excess conductor (please see video).

In short, we have installation systems that are fast to install, extremely reliable and robust, easily expandable and very cost effective.
