Design smart – Electronics Housings Development Kits

From |

Written by Duncan Nicol, Market Segment Manager – Device Connections

Development kitsSave time and money during research and development with DEV-KITS from Phoenix Contact.

DEV-KITS are electronics housing kits that include all the parts needed to assemble an enclosure ready for your electronics. They include the enclosure body and connectors along with made to measure prototyping PCBs and BUS connectors that can be ordered separately. DEV-KITS are ideal for rapid prototyping, proof of concept and one off projects.

At some point during the design process the enclosure comes into consideration. Typically there are two choices: design and engineer a new enclosure at considerable cost and with a high MOQ, or use an off the shelf solution. The second option is often overlooked but is quick to realise and avoids the high engineering costs associated with custom enclosures. Electronics Housings from Phoenix Contact can offer the best of both worlds.

How do I get started with remote access?

From |

Written by Andy Maskell, Product Manager – I/O & Networks.

More and more people are managing machines and plants remotely due to time and the costs involved of being on site every time there is a potential problem. This is particularly crucial during the commissioning phase of a new installation where time is money!

I discuss this subject on a regular basis with customers who want a simple and easy to manage way of implementing remote access. They have enough to think about without adding to the workload or cost of a project. Remote access is not a new thing, but up to now it has been either limited in functionality or complex to configure.

Introducing two clever & innovative tools to save you time

From |

Written by Andy Neat, Product Manager- Marking & Installation.

Something that is becoming more and more apparent to me in the recent years is that there is an increased desire to decrease production time while increasing production quantity, but not compromise on quality.

In my day to day experience, I’m seeing this more and more on-site with panel builders, machine builders, systems integrators and at cable assemblers just to name a few.  At this moment in time, they need look no further than Phoenix Contact for some of the most innovative and high quality tooling in the market today. In particular I’d like to introduce the Crimphandy and Crimpfox 4in1.

Safety simplified!

From |

Written by Andy Maskell, Product Manager- I/O & Networks

What is functional safety?

Functional Safety is the part of the overall safety of a system or piece of equipment that depends on the system or equipment operating correctly in response to its inputs, including the safe management of likely operator errors, hardware and software failures and environmental changes. It is an additional step beyond the traditional product safety assessment and tackles our ever increasingly complex world of interoperating technologies and the hazards they cause.

Functional safety has developed due to the increasing complexity of machines and systems created in today’s world. It is up to manufacturers of safety products to keep up with this trend and create ways to make complying with the associated standards as straight forward as possible.

Phoenix Contact are doing just that!
