Something that is becoming more and more apparent to me in the recent years is that there is an increased desire to decrease production time while increasing production quantity, but not compromise on quality.

In my day to day experience, I’m seeing this more and more on-site with panel builders, machine builders, systems integrators and at cable assemblers just to name a few.  At this moment in time, they need look no further than Phoenix Contact for some of the most innovative and high quality tooling in the market today. In particular I’d like to introduce the Crimphandy and Crimpfox 4in1.

Crimphandy

The Crimphandy is the king of all crimp tools when it comes to crimping high volumes of bootlace ferrules at high speed. To be precise, we’re talking 1.8 seconds to strip and crimp your tri-rated cable! This – in comparison to standard cable preparation with a pair of strippers, a pile of ferrules and a crimp tool-  gives you an increase ratio of around 4:1 in crimping time, while keeping crimp quality a paramount feature.

With a battery life of 9 hours, the Crimphandy is quick to re-charge and stores all the cable strippings internally to reduce mess. It can hold 50 ferrules at one time, which are taped and come in a packet size of 1000. The tool is equipped with very precise sensors inside to ensure the life of tool- for example, it will not attempt to crimp a cable that is not not tri-rated or of the correct size as the ferrule.

The Crimphandy’s crimping results are consistent and leave a square bootlace ferrule finish to ensure maximum contact with the terminal. As of today, the Crimphandy is available in 1mm² and 1.5mm² and will soon be available in 0.5mm² and 0.75mm².

CRIMPFOX 4in1

If you prefer that feeling and satisfaction of crimping a cable by hand with a standard crimp tool, but want to save time and fuss, then the Crimpfox 4in1 is the tool for you.

The Crimpfox 4in1 quite simply rolls 4 processes that come from 2 or 3 different tools into one. This new tool allows you to cut, strip, twist and crimp your cable whilst still keeping the same tool in your hand, providing you with great crimping results. By reducing the need to keep picking up and putting down different tools, the time saving is 30%.  With a four step locking system, it ensures a high process safety.

The ferrules, like the Crimphandy, are also taped and are stored in the snap-in magazine held in the handle. This snap-in magazine allows you to quickly swap over ferrule sizes with minimal fuss when purchased as a set. With a size range of 0.5 mm², 0.75 mm², 1 mm², 1.5 mm² and 2.5mm² the Crimpfox 4in1 can accommodate for all these sizes by only adjusting one setting on the handle.

With so many features going into one tool, thought has been applied to the ergonomic weight of the tool – we’ve strived to ensure that this a well-balanced and easy to use tool in difficult areas. High grade metal is used on the blades to give a long life-time of at least 100,000 life cycles, whilst keeping the blades hidden for safety.
