Within one size sleeve housing, 8 variants can be achieved.

The Heavycon Evo B series plastic range, manufactured in fiberglass-reinforced Polyamide was first launched in 2013. The product offered many features and benefits. Being able to combine cable glands in both vertical and horizontal orientation on the same sleeve housing allowed users to reduce the number of different housings required by 70% compared to industry standard aluminum housings.

The matching cable glands for clamp sizes M20 to M40 could be freely combined with any sleeve and base element in sizes B6, B10, B16, and B24, minimising the number of variants. This reduced stock holding overheads and reduced time spent on design by using components that were quick and easy to assemble contributing to overall savings.

The addition, the new range of PT contact inserts also offered benefits of assembling ferruled or solid core cables without tools using Phoenix Contact’s proven push in technology.  Heavycon Evo plastic also interfaced with the industry standard sized aluminum die-cast heavy duty connectors and Standard B series contact inserts from either Phoenix Contact or other manufactures were supported. This interchangeability allowed opportunities for phased migrations to a full Phoenix Contact solution.

In 2014 we have introduced further products to complement and enhance the existing product range.

For the B series, we are now able to offer “Twin” entry Evo hoods. These new twin entry hoods are available in sizes B10, B16 and B24. Unfortunately a B06 version is not possible because of size constraints.

The twin entry hoods can be combined with standard panel bases shown above or combined with the existing box mounting bases shown below.

Heavycon Evo plastic is now also available in sizes D15 and D25. The D series also offers the same features and benefits as the B series but with some differences:

• Single side locking only, the gasket is on the hood housings and cable glands are only available in sizes M20 and M25.
• Only fixed connection inserts can be used with the D series.
