As I head inexorably towards my 1st half century on this planet I am beginning to reflect on life and how things have changed – particularly in the last 10 years.
Last night, as I sat at home watching my kids ignore me while they looked at their various mobile devices, I started to think about my own phone and how it has evolved.
Do I long for the days of the Nokia 6210 and its simple features, robustness and almost endless battery life? – the answer is yes and no.
Yes because phones are now so attractive and have so many great features, they are indispensable to everyone and in particular our children. They are much more interesting than the average mum and dad and this has changed traditional family life, leading to the death of conversation – well it has in my house anyway!
No because the modern phone enhances our private and business lives in countless ways. We each know which are important to us; it could be the e-mail functionality or the in-built light or a myriad of other features.
What I want to focus on today is the wonderful world of applications, or “apps” as we know them. I am not talking about Candy Crush or the like, but business apps that help engineers.
Phoenix Contact is dedicated to saving time, effort and costs for their customers and have developed many apps with this in mind.
A few examples are:
The Catalogue App
With the new catalogue app, you can access our complete product range by navigating through the familiar Phoenix Contact product structure. Intuitive navigation and different checklists will make it a lot easier for you to place your order. Always find the right contact person, and the information fitting your needs.
Magazines App
The magazines app offers you multimedia publications about the latest products and innovations. Experience the interactive world of Phoenix Contact.
Protection App
The protection app intuitively explains how to protect your own electrical devices against surge voltages. Design an extensive protection concept and keep an eye on the status of your surge protection.More about surge protection
Mini Analogue Pro App
The MINI Analog Pro app allows you to access your signal conditioners via near field communication (NFC). Depending on the module type, you can implement complete configurations or a DIP switch setting aid, as well as access information such as block diagrams or data sheets. More about Mini Analogue Pro.
These are just of handful of the Apps that Phoenix Contact have developed over the last 2 years and more are in development all the time.
If the apps or any of the thoughts or products above are of interest and you would like to get in touch, I can be contacted by phone on 07584 514963 or via email at: fcowie@phoenixciontact.com
