Custom-made Solutions Department- Part 1
At Phoenix Contact, we have an incredibly useful way of saving time and money for our customers. Our Custom-made Solutions Department has the capability of taking a customer drawing and creating completed din-rail assemblies, ready for installation in the customer’s control cabinet.
In our next blog, James Davies (Warehouse & Assembly Manager) will be explaining the service in more detail.
For now, allow me to introduce you to the team…
James Davies – Warehouse & Assembly Manager
James is Trevor Clarke’s go to man when he needs help in the Custom-made Solutions Department. James helps make sure we are on target to hit every advised date for the customer and he inspects all of the added value work to ensure the high accuracy.
James has a 7 year old daughter and she gets more demanding everyday ‘can I have that’ or ‘can you take me here’. He believes his second job is becoming a taxi driver.
“I’ve got a season ticket at Manchester City (yes, I was a fan before the billions came) and I use the word ‘Crikey’ quite often.”
Trevor Clarke – Senior Assembly Operative
Trevor is Mr Custom-made. Once a drawing arrives on Trevor’s desk, you can be rest assured the build of the assembly is in safe hands – Trevor is well known for his high standards for accuracy.
When not working on his rail-assemblies, Trevor can be found at Anfield watching his beloved Liverpool play football.
Peter Morris – Commercial Sales & Technical Support Engineer
Pete will receive the enquiries in various formats and translate them into Clip Project. From this platform, he will create quotations and subsequent production drawings/BOMs.
This has recently been transformed into an electronic system from the previous old fashioned paper system.
Beyond Clip Project, Pete spends most of his spare time being a roadie for his son’s rock covers band or his daughter’s acoustic duo. Pete has been learning to play the guitar now for 32 years – still useless!!! (His words)…
Chantelle Lane – Customer Services Co-Ordinator
Chantelle has had a busy 6 months following her marriage to Jack late last year, and a recent
move into a more technical role at the start of the year. Chantelle’s new role has her supporting the Device Connections (DC) Team from our Telford office. Her duties now include the creation of new ‘Custom-made’ projects and she has been tasked with re-organising the departments legacy DC projects and their supporting documentation.
In her own time Chantelle practices the art of tattooing and is available for private ‘Body Art’ commissions. Her art-work can be seen on both her work colleagues and friends and family. When not inflicting pain on her nearest and dearest, Chantelle is a budding business woman; putting her technical and artistic skills to best use by designing and building jewellery that she sells online and at Trade Fairs.
Daryl Sharp – Technical Support Engineer
Daryl transforms general application enquiries into technical proposals that can be fulfilled by the Custom-made Team.
When not surrounded by Phoenix Products in the demo room Daryl will be at home surrounded by his wife and two sons.
“Or I will be trying to extend my youth by playing xBox while drinking Irn-Bru, eating Tunnocks Caramel Wafers and listening to The Proclaimers….”

An interesting concept and idea something I’m sure will be of interest to a wide range of existing and potential customers. The reason for the response here is that Phoenix Contact is in our view a connector manufacturer with a few specialist elements thrown in for good measure. We at GTrek on the other hand are a special purpose electronics design and prototype manufacturing company that use Phoenix parts for good measure.
We at GTrek Ltd are a small effective company based in Cannock and there appears to be some commonality here that could be put to good use for the benefit of both parties. If I have sown the seed of a thought here please let me know.
Best regards
