If you are of the opinion that a terminal is just a terminal, then it’s only fair that I give you a friendly word of caution. By reading this blog we may just convince you that this is not the case, and you will probably never be able to view terminals in the same way again… On a more serious note though, in today’s blog I will be taking a brief look at the status of Push-in technology and a more in depth discussion on the new, ready-to-connect PTFIX distribution block.

Push-in technology was designed by Phoenix Contact. It’s the result of developing and designing a unique solution in order to meet a customer’s specific requirements in Japan. Originally Push-in technology was derived for terminals only but it wasn’t long before it was requested as a preferred connection method in some of our other product groups. Today the push-in option is available for Phoenix Contact relays, power supplies, surge protection devices, signal conditioners and I/O modules to name a few. The opportunities are endless.

PTFIX distribution blocks are delivered ready to be connected, in various positions and mounting types. They can be used straight away and expanded as needed. PTFIX blocks ensure flexible and cost-effective load and control current distribution. Push-in connection technology enables you to insert wires quickly and easily. Even small conductors from 0.34 mm2 can be connected reliably without using tools. Simply use the push button for disconnection purposes and to connect stranded conductors without ferrules.

Our new online configurators provide you with support in the creation of your customized distribution block solution. Configure your distribution blocks with just a few entries. Thanks to simple menus, 2D and 3D product images, and intuitive user interfaces it’s an easy convenient way to create and order. Product selection is simplified and depending on your requirement you start by combining the appropriate blocks and Individual layers in accordance with cross section, number of terminal points, colors and mounting type. You are able to download design data in 2D and 3D format enabling you to use it directly in your CAD software. The ability to customize the product and specify the printing and accessories for your solution saves time and enables convenient repeat ordering. You can now reorder your distribution block configuration at any time via the automatically generated solution ID, without having to enter any additional information.
