Five top tips for fibre optic applications from Phoenix Contact

1.       Why choose fibre optic as a solution?

Fibre optic cables have the advantage of being able to transmit data over much longer ranges than copper cables. For example Ethernet cables are limited to a distance of 100m, whereas fibre cables can transmit data over distances of 45km.

As the above diagram illustrates, fibre optic cables do not suffer with data rate loss in relation to the cable length. This makes no difference in a fibre optic application.
