On my 10th week with Phoenix Contact I visited the Phoenix offices in Bad Pyrmont with a visit to Blomberg as well. Joachim Pucker, Global Industry Manager for Water and Waste Water and Hauke Abbas, Industry Manager for Water and Waste Water were excellent hosts for the three days. Among other things, we discussed some of the projects completed in the water industry in Germany and different solutions that have been created for specific applications.
Two solutions which were of particular interest were a wet well and pump control and monitoring system. Both can be ordered on single part numbers and offer a complete solution for these particular applications. They both come pre-programmed which removes the need for a trained technician to programme the plc, just power up the system, set some simple parameters on the HMI and you are good to go.
Ground Water WellControl Solution:
The WellControl from Phoenix Contact is a pre-configured system with simple user defined parameters that deals with all the necessary control and regulation tasks for groundwater wells. The IEC 60870-5-104 remote control protocol allows for simple connection to a central control centre. The field devices are connected via our Waterworx process library and are based on pre-programmed function blocks, which allows for efficient engineering of your systems.
The WellControl utilizes the Axioline controller which has Profinet and Modbus / TCP functionality to allow for future expansion. All components used provide comprehensive diagnostic options for remote diagnostic monitoring of the system. MCR modules from the MINI Analog Pro range are also suitable for use in harsh environments. They filter and refresh all incoming analogue values for further processing. The Phoenix power supplies and surge protection devices also ensure a safe, reliable power source.
Pump Control Solution:
Pumping stations are distributed systems pumping water from one body of water into a higher body of water. If a problem occurs, an operator would need to travel to the pumping station in order to rectify the fault, which takes time. With the PumpControl solution from Phoenix Contact, pumping stations are controlled, regulated and operating data (e.g., level, flow, and motor currents) are recorded. This solution can be tailored to a customer- and application-specific basis.
The PumpControl System uses a GSM/GPRS controller which enables the user to control multiple remote stations from a central control room. Process parameters are continuously monitored to ensure efficient running of the pumps and intelligent programming permits dynamic level control, minimising deposits in pumps and tanks. This level of control and visibility reduces downtime, avoids the need for operators to travel to the sites and increases the lifetime of the system.
These systems make it very easy for Phoenix customers to select trusted Phoenix products for a specific application and have no concern they will work as one system and integrate with other systems on site.
Along-side the above systems Phoenix Contact offer a wide range of equipment to solve control and monitoring issues across the water industry.
