So, for the contractor getting his job signed off, all is in order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Gaffe<\/strong> <em>(Blunder)<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>There is\nhowever often one oversight; identifying the components of the system, not now,\nbut in a few years\u2019 time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.phoenixcontact.com\/online\/portal\/za?1dmy&amp;urile=wcm:path:\/zaen\/web\/main\/solutions\/subcategory_pages\/Solar_applications_and_solutions\/7d874784-2e44-4776-8d73-75b428b3902f\">PV systems<\/a> require very little maintenance, but the day will come when repairs need to be done, cables replaced, or an inverter changed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wind and wave power generation both require regular maintenance due to their mechanics and moving parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The common denominator with all these forms of generation is that they always need to be situated in extreme and\/or remote environments to be economically viable. High UV, high winds, temperature or rough seas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Plastic Marking<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Plastic markers are well suited inside controlled environments and are generally inexpensive. These markers can usually be matched to one or two of these adverse conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dam-web.europe.phoenixcontact.com\/CIP\/preview\/image\/portals-general-access\/121619;jsessionid=4DFE3466BEF084CBA3B2716F07126D74?maxsize=728&amp;showtransparencygrid=true\" alt=\"\" width=\"591\" height=\"330\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Polyamide markers are excellent in areas where petrochemicals\nand subsequent fumes arise; but when rainwater and sunshine are abundant, the\nporosity of the plastic breaks down the bond of ink to the label prematurely.<\/li><li>Polycarbonate is exceptionally mechanically\nstrong but breaks down when exposed to certain common petrochemicals and heat.<\/li><li>Polyester is resistant to UV but is less suited\nto abrasive conditions.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When protective devices (like carriers or shock covers) are used, the prices increase for both the labelling and labour required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In short; plastic markers are not advisable for long term external conditions where wind, rain, sun and water can cause premature degradation of labelling for equipment that has expected life spans of 10, 20, 30 or even 45 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Metal Marking<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>From a personal point I have always seen printing on a stainless steel or aluminium marker as an expensive and rather questionable exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Expensive; in that polymer coated aluminium or stainless-steel\nmakers are considerably more costly than their plastic counter parts.<\/li><li>Questionable; in that you are basically using\nplastic to coat a metal to make it printable with a plastic ink.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Metal Engraving<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This is where I can quite easily end off my article \u2013 Metal Engraving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Cost effective; no ink and metal markers do not\nrequire polymer enhancing.<\/li><li>Price of stainless-steel markers are comparable (and\nin some cases less expensive) than their plastic counterparts.<\/li><li>Chemicals; one, the marker (either stainless\nsteel or aluminium)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The TOPMARK NEO<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dam-web.europe.phoenixcontact.com\/CIP\/preview\/image\/portals-general-access\/8590126884;jsessionid=1371596BD17B345ABE41D4F0F346E92A?maxsize=728&amp;showtransparencygrid=true\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Phoenix Contact has the answer in the TOPMARK Neo Laser. As time has gone by its usefulness has only increased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anodized aluminium adds variety and colour to a multitude of manufactured goods. It makes sense to use these metals in marking material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the increasing demands on identification systems of everything from cables, wires, terminals, panels and other types of equipment there is no doubt that the TOPMARK NEO sets a new, much higher standard.
