When the current in a circuit is too high to directly apply to test or measuring instruments, a CT reduces the current proportional to the current in the circuit.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Once the current is reduced, the\u00a0CT Terminals\u00a0can then\u00a0be used to short the CT secondary circuit to enable test and measurement of the circuit thereby allowing users to avoid a system outage. A traditional CT terminal that is being used from Phoenix Contact is the URTK\/S series.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.phoenixcontact.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2011\/05\/URTKS2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2793 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.phoenixcontact.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2011\/05\/URTKS2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"462\" height=\"314\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.phoenixcontact.com\/marketing-sea\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2011\/05\/URTKS2.jpg 670w, https:\/\/blog.phoenixcontact.com\/marketing-sea\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2011\/05\/URTKS2-300x204.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.phoenixcontact.com\/marketing-sea\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2011\/05\/URTKS2-624x425.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 462px) 100vw, 462px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Traditional way of breaking a circuit is to<\/p>\n<p>1) unscrew<\/p>\n<p>2) move to desire position(open\/close)<\/p>\n<p>3) tighten the screw.<\/p>\n<p>In this 3 step aspects, there is a\u00a0possibility\u00a0that the screw is not tighten properly\u00a0in the\u00a0last step possibly due to\u00a0fatigue, misjudgement etc.\u00a0This is especially dangerous if the CT terminal block is mounted in a Din Rail vertically on the panel.\u00a0\u00a0Any\u00a0errors in the 3rd\u00a0step process\u00a0will\u00a0 not only\u00a0damage the equipment but also compromise operator safety.<\/p>\n<p>In Phoenix Contact, we believe that your safety is our priority.
