30th Nov 2011 marks a special and important day for Phoenix Contact (SEA) Pte Ltd. What is so important and special? Hear this, we hosted 4 VIPs from Germany who are, Mr Frank Stuehrenberg, our Executive Board Member, Mr Ulrich Leidecker, our General Manager of Phoenix Contact Deutschland GmbH, Mr Hanno Hardt, Director Media of publish-industry, Mr Thomas Rilke, Director Metropolitan Solutions at Singapore Newater Visitor Center.

Water is a precious element in our everyday life. Without water, we will not be able to survive. Over the years, there has been an increasing demand for water usage over many areas. Other than using water for necessity, it has also evolve to a psychologically tool to create ambience. It has come to a point where clean water has become a shortage around the world and especially in Singapore.

Therefore, we are proud to introduce and showcase Singapore NEWater project to our VIPs. It is a proud achievement for Singapore, using advanced membrane technologies to purify treated water, making it ultra-clean and safe to drink. The project has won Singapore Public Utilities Board various awards like ‘Award of Excellence’ from the National Water Research Institute (NWRI) and “Environmental Contribution of the Year” at the Global Water Awards 2008 ceremony. For Phoenix Contact (SEA) Pte Ltd, we are also proud to have contributed a small part to this success by working closely with Hyflux in supporting the NEWater system.

Our VIPs were simply amazed with the technology and finds that this is a new breakthrough for the World to obtain clean water. They were all smiles when they were told that the water from the tap in our household is drinkable.

Feeding their curiosity asking whether this technology has been shared worldwide and has it ventured to any other countries which are in need for such technology. As what Mr Frank Stuehrenberg commented, “ NEWater Technology is not only important for Singapore, it will be important for the world – very encouraging!” Through this tour, they have learnt more about NEWater technology and thumbs up agreeing that it is upmost importance for Singapore and it will be important for the World too.
