2. Managed or Unmanaged switch?<\/strong><\/p>\n

There is often a lot of confusion over whether an Unmanaged<\/a> or a Managed <\/a>switch should be used. The below table gives a brief overview of the major differences.<\/p>\n

3. Remotely a<\/strong>ccessing machines that have Ethernet networks\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"IndustrialIf your machine or equipment in the field communicates over Ethernet, we have a range of Modem solutions<\/a> that allow you to access your machine or equipment remotely.<\/p>\n

If the end user site has no Ethernet infrastructure in place we have a range of mobile based Modems which allow remote access using a standard SIM card with data enabled.<\/p>\n

Equally, if the site has an Ethernet network already in place, Phoenix Contact has a range of secure routers<\/a>, which also allow for remote access to happen.<\/p>\n

4. What about a network planning tool?<\/strong><\/p>\n

5. Wireless Ethernet, is that an option?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"safteyAt Phoenix Contact we have a range of WLAN and Bluetooth devices,<\/a> which can transmit Ethernet over distances which range from 300m to a couple of miles. In actual fact, if you use our WLAN or Bluetooth devices in conjunction with our Safety Bridge<\/a> product you can transmit safety signals wirelessly. The highest safety levels can be achieved in accordance with the latest standards (ISO 13849-1 & 62061). This means that you can achieve PLe\/SIL3\/Cat4 systems wirelessly.<\/p>\n

This is extremely useful for certain applications where the cabling for the safety circuit is difficult or the cable is prone to breaking. A good example is a transfer car application.<\/p>\n
