The obvious requirement for wireless technology is where it is too costly (cable and copper costs) or where it is \u00a0impossible to run cables.<\/p>\n<p>Examples are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Between buildings<\/li>\n<li>Across roadways<\/li>\n<li>Airport runways<\/li>\n<li>Across water<\/li>\n<li>Across third party property<\/li>\n<li>Escalators\/Lifts<\/li>\n<li>Cranes<\/li>\n<li>Long distance cable runs (Ethernet 100 metres limitation)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The list goes on and on.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Wireless also fits where the requirement is likely to change such as a production line expansion or a modular system that requires regular changeover for different products. It may also just be that wireless provides a convenient access point into your application or system. Of course there is not just one wireless technology, there is a choice to suit your application and below are some examples.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.phoenixcontact.com\/assets\/images_ed\/local_gb\/web_content_1col\/pic_con1_gb_0016097_en.jpg\" alt=\"Bluetooth MUX\" width=\"220\" height=\"220\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.phoenixcontact.com\/online\/portal\/gb?1dmy&amp;urile=wcm%3apath%3a\/gben\/web\/main\/products\/subcategory_pages\/Wireless_IO_P-08-11-03\/0a2093a8-e236-4e5e-822c-bea245f5a2f0\/0a2093a8-e236-4e5e-822c-bea245f5a2f0?cpn=blog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Bluetooth multiplex<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a simple solution with no configuration required. 16 digital inputs to 16 digital outputs \/ 2 analogue in to 2 analogue outputs \u2013 both ways. A simple wireless solution up to around 100 metres.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.phoenixcontact.com\/online\/portal\/gb?1dmy&amp;urile=wcm%3apath%3a\/gben\/web\/main\/products\/subcategory_pages\/Wireless_IO_P-08-11-03\/7015d97b-fd6d-4e2f-8cf9-cf8f62be5e63\/7015d97b-fd6d-4e2f-8cf9-cf8f62be5e63?cpn=blog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\"><strong>Radioline<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Keeping it simple, this system has a\u00a0quick set up system using the thumb wheels on the front of the I\/O and radio <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.phoenixcontact.com\/assets\/images_ed\/global\/web_content_graph_1col\/pic_con1_a_0087612_int.jpg\" alt=\"Radioline\" width=\"220\" height=\"195\" \/>units and can be used in various topologies. It can be used for digital\/analogue multiplex and \/ or serial communications over distances of up to 30km.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ethernet \/WLAN &amp; Bluetooth<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Probably the most requested solution is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phoenixcontact.com\/online\/portal\/gb?1dmy&amp;urile=wcm%3apath%3a\/gben\/web\/main\/products\/subcategory_pages\/Wireless_Ethernet_P-08-11-02\/f0e9d723-3f08-444d-abbe-11b9823a2605?cpn=blog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wireless Ethernet<\/a>.
