BIPV has been around for some years but not much is known about this revolution in building design. BIPV is become more mainstream thanks to the ongoing advances in solar technology together with the development of connection solutions specifically designed for building facades.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

BIPV is the integration of solar panels into the facades of buildings and other permanent structures. With BIPV the photovoltaic system acts as\u00a0 part of the building\u2019s shell, exceeding the function of just energy generation by providing additional functions such as protection from the elements, warmth and noise insulation, sun protection and safety. Due to the limited space between the panels and the frames, the SUNCLIX Mini range from Phoenix Contact has been specific designed to fit these small spaces.<\/p>\n

The new SUNCLIX Mini DC plug-in connector has been specifically developed for the BIPV market. Compact, at just 11mm in diameter, the DC connector is rated up to 1000 volts and 15 amps. SUNCLIX Mini works in conjunction with the BIPV junction box and string diode to provide a complete BIPV connection solution from Phoenix Contact.<\/p>\n

The SUNCLIX Mini junction box has been developed to provide a simple and secure connection from the solar panel integrated into double or triple glazed fa\u00e7ade frames. Wiring back to the inverted is achieved with a combination of junction boxes, connectors and string diodes.<\/p>\n

The SUNCLIX Mini string diode is designed to fit the limited space between the fa\u00e7ade, and features sophisticated heat management technology to prolong the life of the diode and protect the integrity of the solar installation. String diodes are required to protect the panels from reverse currents which can occur under certain fault conditions including: short circuit in one or more modules, short circuit in one or more cells in a module, double ground fault in a module and\/or the cabling.<\/p>\n
