We start 2018 with changes to the team; David Hall, who has worked for Phoenix Contact for 19 years has decided now is the right time to retire. David will leave us in February, having done a sterling job in the Process market over the last few years, so I would like to wish David all the best in his well-deserved retirement. We will look forward to welcoming David’s replacement in during February.
Mark Cain has completed six months with us and settled in to the team very well and is making great progress within his remit for Infrastructure and I’m sure we will hear more from Mark in the coming weeks / months.
During 2017 we, as PHOENIX CONTACT have made some great investments in new technologies and company acquisitions as the more eagle-eyed of you will have noticed on our news pages.
PHOENIX CONTACT Energy Automation GmbH
This has led to the forming of a company to support our activities in the Energy industry. Phoenix Contact Energy Automation GmbH will enable us to offer solutions across the high-voltage grid as well as the distribution networks. From station control engineering in transport networks up to 400kV and automation solutions for the distribution network.
Extensive expertise
Originally established as Helmut Mauell GmbH, the company has over 60 years of experience in the automation of energy supply systems. As of April 2017, having joined forces with Phoenix Contact, merging the industry and system expertise with their range of technology and products, Phoenix Contact Energy Automation GmbH based in Velbert, Germany has been formed.
Mauell’s remote control technologies have been used across many industries and applications and the need for modern secure IT communication based on secure IEC protocols such as IEC60870 and IEC61850 enable their solutions for automation and control of energy networks which are supported by their product ranges specifically designed for such protocols.
From electromechanical special relays, such as drop indicator relays, to electronic warning systems and solutions for communication and automation technology, Mauell create reliable solution concepts for stable energy supply.
New Energy Solutions
The energy sector is changing with conventional energy generation and renewable energy being fed into the grid, the development of battery storage systems and the need to support EV charging, the management of the grid is becoming even more critical – Smart Grid solutions are necessary and Phoenix Contact can play its part in offering elements or full solutions.
